ABOUT US

Hanan Yanny Jewellery and Craft has become known for our innovative design and manufacture using a diverse range of materials. Our Paper range has been on sale at the Museum of Decorative Arts in the Louvre in Paris, at the George Pompidou Centre for Arts and Culture in Paris and at the South African Crafts Council in Johannesburg. We were also selected to take part in the Craft Showcase at the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002. We have worked collaboratively with several South African clothing designers, creating accessories that complement their collections. Our Nomad and contemporary ranges of jewellery are sold in exclusive boutiques and craft stores across the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and Southern Africa.

Hanan Yanny is Egyptian/British and has been designing jewellery and crafts since 1991. She now lives and works in Cape Town from where she sources top-quality handmade beads from Africa and beyond. Her love of jewellery and beadwork began when she discovered antique African beads in the ancient market of Omdurman whilst working with the United Nations refugee programme in Sudan.

Our Mission Statement

"THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE. LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT." (PSALMS 118:24)

Our purpose is to enable disadvantaged women to generate an income, thereby supporting their roles as mothers and home- makers. We support women to proudly nurture the most vulnerable in society, their children and their elderly, and to help them to create their visions and aspirations for their families.

HOW

  • We are guided by Godly principles and integrity, and we bring forward our best at all times.
  • We operate with transparency and accountability at all times, towards people and environment.
  • We train women in the manufacture and administration of jewellery and craft production for sale to retailers nationally and internationally.
  • We instil an ethos of self discipline, impeccability, responsibility, and pride in work.
  • We develop self confidence and self-esteem in our employees to enhance their life- and work- skills.
  • We educate and encourage our employees to use their income and experience to further themselves and their children, thereby empowering themselves and contributing to the future of South Africa.
  • We build our reputation through ethical principles, consistency of our customer-focussed service and innovative product design.
  • We direct business expenditure towards human resources rather than capital resources.
This is our vision for a sustainable future that builds both people and business.
